Meet Owen Bement, HPRP volunteer and law student

owenbementOwen Bement, a first-year student at the University of Baltimore School of Law, volunteers a few hours a week at the HPRP office, where he helps with office work such as organizing volunteers’ files and calling clients.

“I definitely believe in HPRP’s cause,” said Owen, who plans to work as a public defender after he graduates. “I care about issues around indigent clients, especially those with mental health issues and the formerly incarcerated. Volunteering at the HPRP gives me a chance to contribute to those causes. It also lets me see how a public interest law office runs. I really enjoy working here. I hope to find myself in an environment like this after graduation.”
